【Fear of Light】 key art

It's been almost 2 year since my last personal publication, I apologize... But I haven't been lazy, let me explain. After working for so many movies all these years, the novelty and excitement fade away. Even if you're involved in amazing big productions, it's like, "Oh, that's it?"

Over the past few years, I've been contemplating the future of my career as an artistic creator. When I look ahead, besides striving to become an art director or making tutorials, what other choices are there? Working on big productions and popular IPs at large companies might be great, but in the end, you're still just a hired hand. It's disheartening to realize that you've invested so much time and energy nurturing something that isn't your own child.

So, about four or five years ago, I started writing my own novel. I'm a slow writer and don't have much literary talent. I've been learning and experimenting along the way. In addition to getting married, going abroad, and raising two children, I basically only have time to write during my daily commute to work and after the kids fall asleep. Only those who have children shall understand the struggle. 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

But I'm delighted to share that the preliminary work for my novel, "Fear of Light" also known as "陽炎殺", is coming to an end. The story consists 43 chapters, and I've drawn atmospheric concept illustrations for each chapter. If I post one chapter per week, I can keep posting continuously for almost a whole year, until you're fed up with it LOL.

Considering that most of you don't have the habit of reading books, I will release it in the form of an audio drama( It's in Chinese). It will be available on platforms like YouTube, Spotify, Facebook, etc., and you can listen to it for free! It's a kamikaze-style marketing approach. As for whether the story is good or captivating enough to gain attention, that will be up to you to experience and support. 🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️🙇‍♂️

Lastly, I want to express my gratitude to God, my wife, 強尼戴普 for helping with proofreading, and the talented voice actors 哈哈笑 and 蕭然. They have meticulously woven this story together. With the rise of AI, this may be the last time that we, as artistic creators, rely solely on human effort to create works. It's a tear shed by the era. It feels like the female weavers during the Industrial Revolution, exerting their last bit of strength to weave the brilliance of humanity.
